The Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit is acting in a Marathi film named Bucket list in which she tells you why one should have his/her bucket list ready and achieve the list one by one; in the movie she wants to ride a motor cycle, sword fight, sing, and what a middle-aged housewife craves to so things, which the society finds weird. Bucket list is a list of things a person wants to achieve or experience, as before reaching the fag end of life. It is originated from the idiom kick the bucket which means to die. Bucket list encourages you to live life for something. It gives you inspiration for living. If you haven’t prepared your bucket list yet, please do prepare one.
In another 2007, American comedy – drama film Bucket list Billionaire Edward Cole (Jack Nicholson) and car mechanic Carter Chambers (Morgan Freeman) are complete strangers, until fate lands them in the same hospital room. The men find they have two things in common: a need to come to terms with who they are and what they have done with their lives, and a desire to complete a list of things they want to see and do before they die. Against their doctor’s advice, the men leave the hospital and set out on the adventure of a lifetime.
The biggest fact of our lives is we cannot wait for the “right” moment to experience life. Instead, focus on experiencing something new every day, every week, every month and every year. Right moments don’t come your way; you need to create them because you don’t know how long you are here on this planet.
Bucket list contains your wish and desires, the experiences you want to have in your life. So, have your specific goals written down and stay focused. Make an effort to accomplish something your desires in your daily routine life by setting that little “me time.” Sometimes a new calendar year serves as the ultimate reminder that life is never as long as we would like it to be. One of my friend who is 78, wanted to run a marathon, he fancied a goal of heroically crossing a finish line. Last year he exercised, took proteins, did his ECG regularly, went for training classes to run in a marathon, in short, he did all that was required and completed a 15 km marathon! He is so happy.
One of my 72 years young aunt, wanted to make an enthralling memoir; she attended weekly writer’s workshop for three months to learn how to get thoughts down on paper. This improved her critical thinking and communication skills and she did write a short novel of her life’s experiences! Life is all about making memories. Your bucket list certainly gives you plenty of them. They will be memories you will hold onto forever, and give you great stories to tell other people. It’ll be nice to look back on the things you’ve accomplished, something to make you feel proud of yourself. I am sure, Face book and Instagram will fetch you many likes for those small yet important achievements of your life.
Last year in June, I and my three friends, all above fifty five, felt like experiencing the adrenaline high by going for skydiving. We travelled to Dhana, Madhya Pradesh and went for it. Let me tell you’ll, this activity is no joke, it had a euphoric effect on us. Life can get tough sometimes, but it important to keep pushing forward. Your bucket list is the perfect thing to help get you out of a huff. Go out and try something new, something you always wanted to do. It really helps.
A bucket list helps you discover yourself. Think of all the things and places you would like to discover. By doing so, you’ll add to your life experiences. Most of us have a list of places we want to travel to. Travelling does help in exploring the world. Jumping off of discovering something new is such a great feeling. Explore the world; there is no age which is perfect to start on a new journey.
Bucket list helps you to learn new things such as singing, writing, cooking, knitting, stitching, and learning. Because, with exploring comes learning which is always a good thing. Learn a new language, designing, painting, learning a new culture, new language, going in for higher studies learn about anything. Put yourself first on the list. Discover, search, dream, do it because it helps you physically and mentally to get rejuvenated.
Finally, the reason to make a bucket list is that our wants and desires are never ending. You can always come up with new ideas, always try new things. It’s not a list that’s meant to be completed. A never-ending bucket list is a good and healthy sign of life. I earnestly recommend creating your own bucket list, it is certainly worth it. Set goals for yourself, get out there and discover something new. Make the most of your life.
