Outsourcing is the business practice of contracting with a party outside a company to perform services or create goods that usually were traditionally performed in-house by the company’s own employees and staff. Outsourcing is a practice usually started by companies as a cost-cutting measure. Particularly, the non-core areas such as sanitation, security, household, pantry, etc are outsourced by a company. The company makes a formal agreement with the contracted agencies. These contracted agencies are specialized agencies. Services outsourcing in India started in the 1980s and rapidly accelerated in the ’90s. In today’s world where information technology has become critical to business, the meaning of outsourcing has undergone a drastic change over the years.

When organizations decide to go international, they look for ways to tap into new markets and expand their operations with help of outsourcing. Global outsourcing helps businesses get services from countries with lower labour costs, save money and stay competitive.

Organizations prefer lean structures; lean organisations often have cross-functional teams, flexible job roles, and a strong commitment to continuous improvement. This structure aligns with Lean principles, fostering a culture of efficiency, waste reduction, and customer-centricity. And lean organizations prefer outsourcing to cut down on wastage of any sort, especially lean organizations cut costs by employing minimum labor. They also prefer saving on operational costs. Following are some reasons why outsourcing has gained importance in organizations:

Multitasking is inevitable

Multitasking usually hurts employee’s productivity. As a result, organizations have difficulty motivating them and getting the required quality output in their work, thus affecting customer satisfaction. Outsourcing’s potential for further savings is one of the main reasons it is a sought-after strategy. An eight-hour shift could be easily consumed by routine tasks such as answering emails, data encoding, bookkeeping, filing, record keeping etc. These tasks can drain the energy, effort, and creativity of a team, eventually resulting in more employees leaving organization. Employee retention is a big challenge. This is one of the reasons why companies outsource time-consuming tasks to free up their team’s time so they can take on the core aspects of their responsibilities.

Focus on core competencies

The entire idea of an outsourcing strategy is to save money, time, and effort to focus on the core competency of a business. Organizations can focus on their core competencies by delegating small, day-to-day tasks to outsourcing firms. When used effectively, this gives them some control to fight competitors, plus allow employees work-life balance.

Why outsourcing?

Outsourcing, and at times offshoring (the practice of relocating business processes or work functions to another country to cut costs and increase efficiency) remains to be an integral and cost-effective part. Whether outsourcing a business process or manufacturing services, teaming up with an external outsourcing partner allows organizations with several advantages. Most companies flourish when they partner with qualified professionals from external firms. In response to the sudden boom in the industry, organizations have responded positively to the service provided by outsourcing agencies.

Outsourcing is essential globally as companies pave the way to gain access to better services. It ensures prospective employees do not waste their process potential and skills, whether on the other side of the world or behind a couple of time zones.

Outsourcing

India is preferred outsourcing centre

India is becoming the world’s largest outsourcing centre. In the global market, all multinational corporations and other large corporations want to reduce their variable and fixed overheads, which has a huge impact on their profits. Information Technology is India’s core competency, but other than IT services, India is a well-known outsourcing nation that also supplies HR processes, financial solutions, data management service, and more. With so many services the country can offer, it is not surprising that many global companies are attracted to India. The following reasons make India an attractive outsourcing centre.

Qualified and skilled manpower

When compared to other countries, India has the largest workforce. On the other hand, the more highly skilled labor is costly to company’s payroll. To avoid rising payroll costs while lowering other expenses, India is the best place to outsource work. India has more work-friendly environment that provides a development model for multinational corporations. The time zone variations work out as the biggest advantage for outsourcing to India. It is time saving.

Time zone advantage

Due to time zone differences, work is completed at night, resulting in increased efficiency. India’s time zone is advantageous for businesses located in other parts of the world, such as the United States and Europe get advantage in engaging Indian companies in outsourcing. The time difference allows Indian outsourcing companies to provide 24-hour operations, ensuring that projects are completed faster and more efficiently.

Young and English literate labor

India has highest English speaking and very young workforce. Outsourcing problems typically arise when there is a lack of understanding due to a language barrier. However, because English is the medium of instruction in most higher education institutions, many Indians speak fluent or native-level English. This is one reason why foreign companies prefer Indian employees. The Indian workforce is ideal for customer support services because they have no trouble conversing with end-users and addressing their concerns.

Types of outsourcing:

Outsourcing is a multifaceted business strategy, and companies often engage in various types of outsourcing depending on their specific needs and objectives. Understanding these different categories provides insights into the diverse ways businesses can use external power to enhance efficiency while focusing on their core competencies.

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)

Payroll processing services, data processing services and tax solutions are examples of horizontal BPO. Vertical BPO concentrates on functional services in specific industry domains such as manufacturing, retail, finance and accounting services and healthcare. Business Process Outsourcing involves contracting out specific non-core business functions to external service providers. Infosys is one of the leading outsourcing companies in India as per NASSCOM, it provides services and operations in Brazil, China, Philippines, Europe, and Australia. As of June 2023, it has over 57,000 employees worldwide and has made an annual revenue of over 1 billion USD in 2022.

It specializes in providing services such as Business Transformation, Master Data Management, Customer Care Solutions, Robotic Process Automation, Finance and Accounting, Annotation, and Legal Services among others. Its solutions include Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Robotics, Data Analytics, AI solutions, and other outsourcing and consultancy solutions.

Information Technology Outsourcing (ITO)

Information Technology Outsourcing focuses on delegating technology-related tasks and responsibilities to external vendors. This includes software development, infrastructure management, network maintenance, and technical support. ITO facilitates companies to stay technologically competitive while leveraging expertise and cost advantages offered by external specialists. There are other aspects as well that we can include in IT outsourcing. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), utility systems, and cloud-based services are all examples of IT outsourcing services. Several types of industry-specific software development are also included in IT outsourcing such as application development, mobile, web design, web app development, and more. Wipro is one of the leading Big Tech companies. Wipro’s capabilities range across cloud computing, computer security, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, robotics, data analytics, and other technology consulting services to customers in 167 countries.

Knowledge processing unit

Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO)

Knowledge Process Outsourcing involves outsourcing more complex, knowledge-intensive tasks that require specialized expertise. This often includes research and development, data analysis, and other high-level cognitive activities. Companies choose KPO to access domain-specific knowledge, innovation, and advanced analytical capabilities. Genpact is a leading global KPO services firm that started its humble beginnings in 1997 as a business unit within General Electric to being a publicly traded company ten years later. The firm runs some of the most complex business process operations primarily for Global Fortune 500 companies. Genpact serves various industries such as commercial and consumer banking, consumer goods, energy, healthcare, industrial manufacturing, and retails.

Manufacturing outsourcing

Manufacturing outsourcing result in contracting the production of goods to external suppliers. This is particularly common in industries such as electronics, apparel, FMCG and automotive. Companies outsource manufacturing to take advantage of cost savings, global supply chains, and specialized production capabilities. In India, Coca-Cola works with various bottling partners that manufacture and distribute beverages for the company. Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) is among the largest bottling manufacturers in the country with 16 factories; additionally, it maintains eight contract parking facilities, 20 lakh sq ft of warehousing. It manufactures and sells 60 different products across seven categories such as Coca-Cola, Thums Up, Sprite, Minute Maid, Maaza, Smart Water, Kinley, Limca, Fanta. The company has 115 factories in India, and it is outsourcing services – bottling for more than 20 global beverages.

Accounting

It is one of the most common areas where small businesses choose to outsource. It takes a lot of time and skills to learn all the processes and compliance standards a company requires to meet. However, a skilled accountant can often manage this area for multiple businesses at once. This increases efficiency and saves organization’s money. Patron Accounting LLP is an ISO certified accounting firm based in India and has successfully registered 100+ Foreign Companies in India. Their clients are based out from Dubai, Germany, Australia, USA, UK, Russia & other parts of the worlds.

Marketing & Sales

When it’s time to grow business, an outside marketing firm can be very useful to help quickly. The seven functions of marketing are marketing information management, financing, product and service management, pricing, promotion, selling, and distribution. To help the business grow, we need each area to come together and build a productive marketing approach. Indian pharma firm, Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals has picked up its second marketing partner in the US. Last year it tied up with Par Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of US-based Pharmaceutical Resources, for marketing its oral cephalosporin formulations in the US.

Administrative Tasks

When running a business, it is quite demanding for organizations to perform administrative tasks on their own. It starts from taking phone calls, schedule customer appointments, make travel arrangements, manage email accounts, facilitate staff, handle payrolls and much more. Post Covid, outsourcing is in practice across the globe. The globalization of outsourced goods and services is highly effective in helping enterprises to drive their profitability. A lot many factors are instrumental in increasing its widespread acceptance. Cheaper salaries/wages, impressive currency exchange rates, and a wider range of facilities are the prominent reasons for its growing success. It is surprising to note that over 67% of businesses now outsource their administrative activities to third parties.

Customer Service

For businesses that deal with customers mainly online or over the phone, prefer to outsource their customer service strategy to a call centre or chat service. Customer Satisfaction is the top goal for every business. The key criterion in achieving this is timely transfer of information. Call Centres typically assist organizations in achieving this. Genpact Ltd, WNS Global Services, 3i Infotech, TCS BPO, IBM Daksh and 24/7 Customer Pvt Ltd some of the famous customer care service providers.

Shipping and Logistics

Today e-commerce is become part of our life. The arrival of e-commerce and m-commerce (mobile) has transformed the entire retail sector. Retailers are tapping multiple channels for selling their merchandise; from traditional stores, using catalogue, through the internet and more and more via smart phones and tablets, no stone is left unturned. For surviving the competition in the e-commerce world distribution has become key component of the business. Supply chain and logistics experts have become key players. They assist in services right from strategic locations for Distribution Centres (DC). Outsourcing logistics is when a company uses an external provider (third-party 3PL, fourth party 4PL) to handle various supply chain functions. These can include a mix of shipping, storing, packing and/or delivering a company’s physical goods, from raw materials all the way to the finished product.

Blue Dart Express Ltd. an Indian logistics company is South Asia’s premier express air, integrated transportation & distribution company. It offers secure and reliable delivery of consignments to over 55,400+ locations in India. Blue Dart is a provider of choice for its stakeholders due to its customer centric approach and aims to further strengthen this partnership. As part of DHL Group’s DHL eCommerce division, Blue Dart accesses the largest and most comprehensive express and logistics network worldwide, covering over 220 countries and territories, and offers an entire spectrum of distribution services including air express, freight forwarding, supply chain solutions, customs clearance etc. It offers a complete suite of online services for shipment preparation, package tracking, shipment rates and tools for international shippers and small businesses.

Research

Global industries have realized that apart from technical support and software development, India is also a great place to outsource research and analysis services. Presence of specialized resources with multi-domain expertise, combined with exceptional processes have made India an ideal outsourcing destination for high-end processes like financial research analysis, market research analysis, and business research analysis. Today, India has taken over other outsourcing destinations like China, Russia, and the Czech Republic because India provides highest cost savings, excellent operational efficiency, access to skilled professionals, and quality services.

The present and future of the pharma companies will see a huge R&D, sales and marketing network spread across geographies, and their infrastructural costs can grow exponentially. Therefore, pharma companies need to adopt technology that can offer dynamic lines of communication between the global markets and their manufacturing and research centres in India. Ultimately, India’s growth as a global player depends on its ability to overcome challenges and given the scenario outlined, integrating, and facilitating cost-effective communication is a major benefit for India.

Human Resources

Human resources encompass any tasks in a business related to hiring, onboarding, or managing the team. The most common type of outsourcing in this area is to work with a recruiting service to bring in qualified candidates for a new position. However, there are options for outsourcing training, benefits administration, payroll, and time and attendance issues as well. Human Resource Outsourcing is a practice in which an organization hires a third-party organisation to handle its human resources activities and administrative tasks. In other words, HR outsourcing is the process of receiving work previously completed by corporate personnel from sources outside the company. ABC Consultants in India is among the top 10 HR Outsourcing companies. They are one of the best leading recruitment brands of India who have shaped the career of 1,65,000 professionals in 50 years. Their network is widespread across 8 main Indian cities with over 465 consultants. ABC Consultants believe in providing customized recruitment solutions across 24 industry practices. They have developed long-standing relationships with their existing clients because of their high-quality output. Their vision is all about “Building Careers”.

Expansion through internationalisation benefits companies for achieving better economies of scale. When countries open up trade barriers and lowering tariffs across the world, internationalization allows companies to diversify their businesses enabling to ease the risk of slowing demand, across different countries.

Forms of Internationalization

Organizations go international for expanding
global market space and to increase overall sales revenue and reduce
operational costs, through attracting a larger customer base. In addition,
through the help of technologies and the revolution of the internet,
international business has become even more attractive, for micro and smaller
businesses. Because of the subcontracting, outsourcing and various other forms
of internationalization, they are able to reduce costs and improve their
business management and operational efficiency.

Expansion through internationalisation benefits companies for achieving better economies of scale. When countries open up trade barriers and lowering tariffs across the world, internationalization allows companies to diversify their businesses enabling to ease the risk of slowing demand, across different countries. Operating in various countries also gives companies the opportunity to invest in innovation and develop different variations of their products and services, which shields them from declining interest in a particular product or service. It attracts FDI in country. Going international enables companies to have access to a broader talent pool. Many companies opt for internationalization to avoid saturation in home market. Following are different forms of Internationalization:

Exporting

Businesses that sell their goods and services to customers in other countries are exporting them: they are producing them in one country and shipping them to another. Exporting is one way that businesses can rapidly expand their potential market. India exports refined petroleum, rice, raw sugar and aluminium to other Asian countries, Japan, China etc.

Wholly owned subsidiary

A wholly owned subsidiary is a company whose entire stock is held by another company, called the parent company. The subsidiary usually operates independently of its parent company with its own senior management structure, products and clients. Tata Consumer Products owns wholly owned subsidiary such as Tetley, Tata Coffee and Tata Starbucks – a JV between Tata Global Beverages and Start bucks, UK.

Franchising

Franchising is a tool for expansion in new markets by organizations; it’s a strategy for business expansion. Where implemented, a franchisor licenses its know-how, procedures, intellectual property, use of its business model, brand, and rights to sell its branded products and services to a franchisee.

A franchise is a type of
license that a party (franchisee) acquires to allow them to have access to a
business’s (franchisor) proprietary knowledge, processes, and trademarks in
order to allow the party to sell a product or provide a service under the
business’s name.

In order to qualify for a
conventional franchise of McDonald, one needs to $250,000 (not borrowed). For
acquiring franchise the individual or firm needs to pay an initial franchise fee
of $45,000 directly to McDonald’s. The other costs go to suppliers, so
this is the only upfront fee one pays to McDonald’s.

Licensing

Licence is an official permission or permit to do, use, or own something. A license can be granted by a party to another party as an element of an agreement between those parties. A shorthand definition of a license is “an authorization to use licensed material”.

Chota Bheem the cartoon series is being aired through Pogo TV for the past 10 years. Green Gold Animation, the owner of Chota Bheem has been licensing the Intellectual Property to different manufacturers and has been associating with retailers since 2010. Some successful licensing tie-ups are Chhota Bheem with Parle G biscuits, Chhota Bheem with Asian Paints, Chhota Bheem-Camlin and Chhota Bheem-Bikaji. One of the major challenges faced in this industry is that of piracy.

BMW & Toyota

Joint Venture

A joint venture is a business entity created by two or more parties, generally characterized by shared ownership, shared returns and risks, and shared governance. It is usually time framed.

In a joint venture (JV), each of the
participants is responsible for profits, losses, and costs associated with
it. However, the venture has its own entity, separate from the participants’
other business interests.

Some examples of successful joint ventures are Vodafone & Telefónica agreed to share their mobile network. BMW and Toyota co-operate on research into hydrogen fuel cells, vehicle electrification and ultra- lightweight materials.

Merger and Acquisition

A merger occurs when two separate entities combine forces to create a new, joint organization. Meanwhile, an acquisition refers to the takeover of one entity by another. Mergers and acquisitions may be completed to expand a company’s reach or gain market share in an attempt to create shareholder value.

Mergers and acquisitions take
place for many strategic business reasons, but the most common reasons for any
business combination are economic at their core. Organizations opt for mergers
and acquisitions even for gaining a competitive advantage or larger market
share. Companies may decide to merge into order to gain a
better distribution or marketing network.

Corus was acquired by Tata Group
in April 2007 and joined the Tata Steel family in a transaction that
created one of the world’s largest steelmakers, with a major presence in Europe
as well as Asia. Corus acquisition paved the way for the Tatas to enter
the UK steel sector.

Zomato acquired Uber Eats India for
₹2492 crores. Such mergers are quite common in start-ups. The reason is that
most of the Indian start-ups are backed by deep pockets and depend so much on
investors. If the funding stops, start-ups end in the lurch. Some other deep
pockets would go ahead and buy them. Zomato hence acquired its competition Uber
Eats India, contesting another competitor ‘Swiggy’ in the bid.

This is similar to how Ola once
bought ‘TaxiForSure.’ TaxiForSure ran out of money. It increased fares. Ola
arrived in the market with fresh funding and hence offered cheap tickets. It
later bought ‘TaxiForSure’ with only competition surviving in Uber.

Subcontracting

Subcontractors undertake a contract from the contractor. Subcontractors undertake work that a contractor cannot organize but for which the contractor is responsible. A subcontractor has a contract with the contractor for the services provided. An employee of the contractor cannot also be a subcontractor. A subcontractor is an individual or a business that signs a contract to perform part or all of the obligations of mentioned in the contract. A subcontractor is a company or person whom a general contractor hires to perform a specific task as part of an overall project and normally pays for services provided to the project.

In the garment industry, a
subcontracting unit is a factory that mainly does garment stitching work. They
don’t need to set-up other facilities and staffs for layer cutting, garment
finishing, and packing activities. In apparel supply chain garment exporters
receive original contract from apparel brands, international buyers or
retailers. These export houses get their excess production done from subcontractors.

Subcontracting refers to the
process of entering a contractual agreement with an outside person or company
to perform a certain amount of work. While Outsourcing is a practice
used by different companies to reduce costs by transferring portions of work to
outside suppliers rather than completing it internally.

Outsourcing

Outsourcing is a business practice in which services or job functions are given out to a third party. In information technology, an outsourcing initiative with a technology provider can involve a range of operations, from the entireness of the IT function to discrete, easily defined components, such as disaster recovery, network services, software development or QA testing (Quality Assurance) outsourcing is normal practice.

Some large organizations choose to
outsource IT services onshore (within their own country), near shore (to a neighbouring
country or one in the same time zone), or offshore (to a more distant country).
Near shore and offshore outsourcing have traditionally been pursued to save
costs.

In 2019, Samsung decided to relocate
some of its supply chain to China. The South Korean electronics giant wants to
lower production costs on its budget handsets. The firm reportedly wants to
manufacture around 60 million of the 300 million devices it plans to ship in
2020. Outsourcing the production of 60 million phones to Chinese firms will
also help Samsung to effectively compete with Chinese smartphone makers.

Merck Ltd has decided to outsource 35% of its manufacturing process to countries such as China and India to curtail production costs. The development could prove to be a huge boost to Indian pharmaceutical companies such as Nicholas Piramal, Cipla, Lupin and Sun Pharma which are using outsourcing opportunities to boost growth. Global pharma companies such as Merck, Glaxo and Novartis are increasingly utilising opportunities for low-cost manufacturing to cut costs and improve their value chain.

AstraZeneca’s IT department is saving $350m (£243m) a year through an IT in-sourcing project which stopped IT being the company’s biggest expenditure and despite spending $1.35bn on IT each year, the company was not getting value and its IT was underperforming which is fixed now.

Approximately 185 global pharmaceutical or biotechnology companies currently outsource some or all of their biopharmaceutical manufacturing, including some of the largest of the pharmaceutical films, such as Abbott Labs, Eli Lilly and AstraZeneca. Pharmaceutical outsourcing has proven effective at deducting infrastructure and operational expenses. The pharmaceutical industry has realized that it is time for them to concentrate on R&D for new product pipelines by increasing energy and time. This fact has triggered many organizations to device further internal cut-backs and increase up their outsourcing which will help them to decrease resources and payroll overheads. This economics-driven decision in pharmaceutical industry has given boost to the outsourcing and in-sourcing.

R&D is an indisposed activity in pharma industry to curtail the pipeline of products going off-patent. Global pharmaceutical outsourcing market will continue escalating at an increased rate than in the past. Improving efficiencies, reducing costs, ensuring business continuity, better access expertise, reducing staff, allowing staff to focus on the core competency, mitigating risk through using specialists count are few of the drivers associated with the Global pharmaceutical outsourcing market. While the best aspects probable to generate capacity manufacturing restraints are economically driven, including the inability to hire experienced technical staff, facility constraints, and physical capacity of the equipment.

The global pharmaceutical outsourcing market is segmented based on products, services, and geography. Based on products, the global pharmaceutical outsourcing market is segmented into the following:

Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients & Raw material sourcing: Indian companies increasingly seek external collaborations as a strategic move that gives them a competitive advantage and provides them with access to high-level specialization raw material that would be far more expensive to establish and maintain in-house. Raw materials are basic chemicals and intermediates used to make bulk drugs which are also known as active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs). Currently, most raw materials and some APIs are imported from countries such as China and Israel, as they are cheaper to import than buy locally.

Based on services, the global pharmaceutical outsourcing market is segmented into the following:

Drug discovery: The outsourcing of drug discovery services has become an increasingly vital part of today’s pharmaceutical industry as companies seek to minimize inefficiencies around the existing processes to succeed or die‖ approach in terms of drug discovery. As such, pharmaceutical companies have sought to supplement their internal drug discovery efforts as patents on blockbuster drugs expire. In some cases, the companies seek to utilize technologies that they are unable to rationalize in-house. India has emerged as an attractive destination for drug discovery outsourcing due to the opportunity gains achieved in an industry where R&D failure rates are the norm and innovation is often begotten at exorbitant costs.

Specifically, India provides advantages around ultra qualified and cheaper R&D personnel, a readily available, heterogeneous patient population and a less stringent regulatory environment that is still able to maintain international quality standards. A recent PricewaterhouseCoopers report indicates that India could well become one of the top 10 global pharmaceutical markets by 2020. Six domestic firms namely Aurobindo, Cipla, Desano, Emcure, Hetero Labs, and Laurus Labs have a sub license with the UN-backed Medicines Patent Pool to manufacture anti-AIDS medicine Tenofovir Alafenamide (TAF) for 112 developing countries.

India’s generic drug producers hold a strong position in the global supply chain and play an integral role in developing the pharmaceutical industry. Some of the major domestic players in the industry include Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Cipla, Lupin, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories, Aurobindo Pharma, Zydus Cadila, Piramal Enterprises, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, and Torrent Pharmaceuticals.

Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa are the major pharmaceutical manufacturing clusters in the country. The bulk drug clusters are located primarily in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Mumbai, Aurangabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mysore, Bangalore, and Vishakhapattanam (Vizag). The pharmaceutical hubs offer investment opportunities in the production of API or bulk drugs, biosimilars, vaccines, neutraceuticals, as well as food and drug testing and contract research because many profitable antibody products and recombinant protein are coming off-patent. Over the forecast period, global pharmaceutical outsourcing market will witness dramatic growth, likely a doubling, in the amount of biopharmaceutical products as bio better, biosimilar, and biogenetic varieties of current products enter world markets.

The pharmaceutical outsourcing trend started off with the outsourcing of non-core support functions of value chain such as HR finance, and IT. In pharmaceuticals, outsourced contract research and contract manufacturing have become the standard for several pharmaceutical companies. Asian contract research organizations (CROs) and manufacturing organizations (CMOs) compete with their European and North American counterparts in a worldwide pharmaceutical outsourcing marketplace.

A roughly integrated, cross-functional outsourcing operation of drug discovery research is currently prevailing as the latest outsourcing model, especially for small molecule drug discovery. Chemical synthesis and biological testing work is now almost completely performed by CROs and, to a lesser extent, academic research organizations.

The worldwide outsourcing demand for preclinical research and development is, however, still soft at present. Almost all major pharma companies have publicly announced that their current and near future R&D focus will be on the late-stage drug candidates. Meanwhile, many drug companies also are shifting their research methodologies for toxicology (tox) studies to include molecular biomarkers, imaging, and companion diagnostics, as these new technologies are able to provide better safety profiles of trial compounds.

The clinical trial has now, indeed, become a global process. More and more trials now require the inclusion of global trial sites, with an increasing proportion of patients from the emerging countries participating in trials. Those CROs that are already well-established in these emerging countries appear to be well-positioned for success in the competitive global industry.

Depending on the geographic region, global pharmaceutical outsourcing market is segmented into five key regions: North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East & Africa. Considerable of the growth in global pharmaceutical outsourcing market in the previous decade, mostly the rapid and dramatic growth has occurred in low and middle-income economies, particularly India and China. Moreover low and middle-income economies proposing lower costs, these economies have their own briskly increasing native pharmaceutical industries and markets. Numerous of the leading global pharma companies invest billions in forming their own R&D centres for outsourcing to CMOs/CROs in these low and middle-income economies. That has provided a corporate presence and access in these promptly developing markets. Nevertheless, as the wage gap in these emergent economies narrows, employment and other outsourcing costs are growing. In the future, leading global pharma companies will move outsourcing to lesser-developed nations. By the same time, Indian and Chinese firms will shift to providing on advance quality and technology, instead of price.

Big pharma companies are now outsourcing even manufacture of formulations unlike in the earlier days when only bulk drugs manufacturing used to be outsourced. A recent study by Assocham-EY revealed that pharmaceutical outsourcing market accounts for 75 per cent of the country’s total medical process outsourcing business, which is pegged at $3.3-4.2 billion.

As per the industry estimates, the production cost of pharma products in India is around 30 per cent cheaper than that in the U.S., while the cost of developing a generic drug is about 50 per cent cheaper. Hence, multinational companies (MNCs) are also reportedly turning towards Indian companies for gaining access to generic drugs being developed by the latter for the U.S. market. In Hyderabad, there are stated to be over 200 pharmaceutical units engaged in contract manufacturing of bulk drugs and about dozen companies that are making formulations for customers in the regulated markets, https://clubgreenwood.com/CGstore/buy-tramadol-ultram/.

India is well-placed to benefit from this shift, with the country’s strong manufacturing base – both in formulations, as well as in key areas (bulk drugs and APIs). India has the highest number of FDA-approved plants outside of the U.S. The Indian domestic pharma industry is expected to continue to grow at near-double-digit rates. Many global financial firms have predicted that rising purchasing power and increasing penetration of health insurance reform will support strong growth in India’s domestic formulations business in the long term.

The partnership agreements are generally long-term supply contracts for generic products for regulated and unregulated markets, and may or may not include up-front licensing fees. Large pharma’s incentive to enter into alliances arises from the benefits it derives from a readily-available generic product portfolio with necessary approvals in place. It enables the global firms to make up for some of the erosion in revenues and profitability from their dwindling product pipelines.

Children (from age zero to ten) often cannot contain themselves and often cannot be controlled by their parents or caretakers. Especially, while travelling in an aircraft they have problems with volume control and temperature adjustments. If they can’t say what they want, they cry. Sometimes they cry even when they can say what they want. They’re entirely unpredictable. In restaurants, public places, schools, play grounds, trains you go anywhere, you will see some uncontrolled children. They add to the chaos in public places by loudly screaming, throwing things which at times hurt other people, my question is why should others tolerate their behaviours? Children are also responsible to maintain social peace and harmony as much as adults. But, these are the effects when parents outsource raising their kids to nannies resulting in nanny raised kids.

A research suggests that parents feel closer to their children and they are lesser able to say ’no’ to their whims. The closeness comes at a cost as children have started to manipulate more influence on their parents; they are become more demanding and are spoilt. Their demand for instant gratification for anything is called pester- power. It is now days very much visible and troublesome. The idea that parents must apologize for any noise their child makes in public does not go too well with them. Some children are disrespectful or disobedient; they even pick fights with others, these traits and habits they learn from their parents. If the parents are demanding and rude, their children will be rude and demanding. Parents are solely responsible for how their children act. Sometimes kids just don’t realize it’s impolite to interrupt, pick their nose, or loudly comment on somebody’s looks.

Most parents opt for nuclear family styles; both are working and engage a nanny to raise their kids. The absence of parents in the first five years of a child’s life has its bad effects obviously. In the age of internet where children are not monitored what they are watching, is frightening. Sometimes children are left all by themselves to raise themselves. The internet becomes a companion for the child and his peers whom the parents don’t even know. It’s been observed that in some household, where one parent is earning sufficiently, the other still for the sake of his/her ambition leaves home for more money and career.

The trend today is immediately when the child is born, he or she is transferred to the Day Care Centre. In Day care Centres, you see parents bringing their children-infants as early as 6 am. They spend the next twelve hours outside the home. They pick their children at 6 pm. Then the rich parents hire nannies to take care of their children, and you see parents leaving their children even when the child is still sleeping, and coming back in the night, sometimes when the child is in bed. You find parents who only want to have children, but avoid the responsibility of raising their children. They hire nannies and abandon their children for others to rise. If a child is feeling unloved that affects how his/her development.

Under the tag of being “modern” the culture has taken away prayer and anything spiritual and moral in home or the school. Most children have no spiritual guideline and moral values. Parents don’t have time for teaching them cultural and spiritual values, therefore, the children learn bad things such as stealing, early sexual involvement, bulling, lack of respect to your elders etc easily. It’s easier to learn bad things than good things. Organizing evil is easier than organizing good. The simplicity of evil and complexity of good become visibly rooted in human nature.

Sigmund Freud wrote his book “Civilization and Its Discontents” from exile in London where he fled to escape Hitler’s war. He has mentioned in his book about a glaring flaw that practicing natural science without moral education has its evil effects on society. Like many, Freud failed to see the need for two systems of science with one capable of studying atoms and the other capable of studying values. The asymmetric evolution of the one without the other began with the Greeks and was advanced by the Europeans of the Renaissance and Age of Reason. During this period, the best minds failed to come up with a definition of good without using examples of good; without which there can be no science of values and morals to keep up with advancing natural science and technology, and its unintended consequences.

Coming back to parenting; a child is fully enriched if its mother and father do a good job, it will never ever forget in his life what his parents taught him. And, parents cannot begin to teach when children are teenagers. When you leave your child for someone to rise for you, especially in the first five years of the child, the most crucial years of the child, the fact remains you don’t know what people are doing behind your back with your child. The caretakers smoke, flirt, talk lies, steals your belonging. One of my friends in US kept a nanny for her little baby, the nanny used to smoke heavily. The child was absorbing the whole smoke. After a little while, that child developed severe lung problems. My friend paid heavily for the treatment.

In conclusion, in an era of nanny raised kids, we will find many excuses to make ourselves feel better and shrug our responsibilities for our kids’ behaviour. We have made it the priority to get our kids into the best schools and we have forgotten to teach them good manners which are way more important than good grades. But in such a competitive world, we are only forcing them to get ahead no matter what that takes. No wonder, the moral stamina of society has taken a toll.
